Levelling the pitch and creating a new home ground

Levelling the pitch and creating a new home ground

The local soccer pitch consisted of a stony, uneven and slightly sloping surface, which was conducive to injuries. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm of the children and young people for the sport remained undiminished and the pitch was used regularly.

After our CEO Yaw recognized the prevailing conditions on site during his trip to Ghana, we decided to gradually improve the soccer pitch as a community project with the active support of the village community.

To create a solid foundation, the playing surface was first leveled with excavators.

In a joint effort, the stony clay soil was then planted with grass. The children showed the adults innovative and efficient solutions by transporting pieces of grass from the lakeshore on plates to the sports field and planting them there.

As a result, the home of the Lake Bosmotwe soccer club, which we co-founded, has been noticeably upgraded and should bring joy to all growing and adult soccer enthusiasts in the future.

Of course, the project is not yet complete. Due to the special weather conditions with an intensive, month-long dry and rainy phase, the pitch will not be able to survive without regular maintenance.

We are therefore currently looking at the experiences of other soccer clubs in Ghana in order to find the optimal surface for our pitch. Through this exchange, we hope to discover a solution that is both cost-effective and long-lasting.
