Cleaning up together on the lakeshore

Cleaning up together on the lakeshore

A cleaning campaign was organized along Lake Bosomtwe on our initiative. Young people and children from the village came together to collect garbage, clear paths to make access to the water easier and remove plastic waste from the water.

Through initiatives like this, an awareness of hygiene is generated and the children learn through play how to treat nature with respect. The quality of the water plays an important role as it is used for washing and drinking and if the number of fish in the lake decreases, it affects the food security of the surrounding villages.

However, it is important to mention at this point that a one-off action is not enough. Large parts of the lake region are still littered.

This project therefore served above all to raise awareness of an environmentally conscious lifestyle, especially for children and young people. In future, we would like to make the region cleaner piece by piece with further cleaning initiatives to counteract the omnipresent environmental pollution.
